Why a whole day

Watching AI work is not the same as having it work for you

Most owners have seen a demo. Few have Claude set up with their own business context, their own templates and their own tools connected, doing real work every week.

That takes a few hours of focused setup, with someone beside you who has already made the mistakes in four businesses of his own. That is what the day is for.

  • Your business context saved in a Claude Project
  • A prompt library built from your own jobs
  • At least one custom Skill that does a job your way
  • Your email, calendar and files connected, safely
  • A Cowork task running on real admin
  • A 30-day plan, one job a week

The agenda

Five modules, all hands-on

Saturday 17 October 2026 · 9:00am – 4:00pm AEDT. Every module ends with you doing it on your own business, not watching.

  1. 9:00

    Welcome and setup check

Everyone signed in and ready, and each owner names the three jobs they want off their plate. Those become the worked examples for the day.

  2. 9:30

    Module 1

    Claude basics

What Claude is good at, what it gets wrong, and why it sounds confident either way.

    • Chats versus Projects, uploading files, and choosing a model
    • What never goes in: client health records, tax file numbers, card details
    • Privacy settings walk-through, and the Australian privacy and consumer law basics (general information, not legal advice)

    Hands-on

    Build your "My Business" Project

    1. 1Create a Project for your business
    2. 2Add your business description, services, price list and tone of voice
    3. 3Start a new chat inside it and see the difference context makes
  3. 10:30Morning break
  4. 10:45

    Module 2

Prompting that works the first time

A simple four-part structure that fixes most average answers.

    • Context: who you are and who it is for
    • Task: the one thing you want
    • Constraints: length, tone, Australian spelling, what to avoid
    • Format: email, table or checklist, plus asking Claude to question you first

    Hands-on

    Rewrite three real jobs

    1. 1A quote follow-up email
    2. 2A reply to a Google review
    3. 3A job ad for your next hire
    4. 4Compare before and after, and save the prompts that worked
  5. 12:00Lunch
  6. 12:45

    Module 3

Skills: teach Claude how your business does things

A Skill is a saved set of instructions Claude uses automatically when it is relevant. Build one once, use it every week.

    • The built-in Skills for documents, spreadsheets and presentations
    • Finding Skills in the directory and turning them on

    Hands-on

    Build your first custom Skill

    1. 1Pick a repeated job, like turning site notes into a quote in your format
    2. 2Do it once in chat and refine until the output is right
    3. 3Ask Claude to write the Skill from that conversation
    4. 4Review the name, when to use it, the steps and an example
    5. 5Save it, turn it on, and test it in a fresh chat
  7. 1:45

    Module 4

Connectors: let Claude read the tools you already use

Connect email, calendar and files so Claude works with your real information, safely.

    • What connectors do and what permissions they ask for
    • Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive, or the Microsoft 365 equivalents
    • Connect only what a task needs, and disconnect what you do not use

    Hands-on

    Three connected tasks

    1. 1Summarise this week’s customer emails and draft replies, without sending
    2. 2Prepare a one-page brief for tomorrow’s meetings from your calendar and files
    3. 3Find last month’s quotes that have not been followed up
  8. 2:45Afternoon break
  9. 3:00

    Module 5

Cowork: hand Claude a multi-step job

The difference between chat, where you drive every step, and Cowork, where Claude works through a task and reports back.

    • Guardrails: a dedicated working folder and clear instructions
    • Reviewing Claude’s plan before anything is sent, changed or deleted

    Hands-on

    Two Cowork tasks

    1. 1Give Claude a folder of sample receipts or invoices
    2. 2Ask it to extract supplier, date, amount and GST into a spreadsheet and flag anything unclear
    3. 3Watch the plan, answer its questions, and check the result
    4. 4Run a second task using one of your own jobs from the morning
  10. 3:45

    Your 30-day plan, and Q&A

One job a week for four weeks, written down before you leave, and answers to anything still on your mind.

Common questions

Before you book

Do I need to be technical?
No. If you can use email and a web browser, you can do this. There is no coding, no APIs, and no Claude Code. Everything happens in the Claude app.
Which Claude plan do I need?
Please come with a paid Claude plan (Pro or higher), because the Cowork module needs one. Skills and connectors also work on the free plan, with some limits. Plan fees are not included in the ticket, and requirements are re-checked and confirmed by email the week before.
How many people attend?
A maximum of 12. That keeps it hands-on: everyone gets help setting Claude up on their own business, not just watching.
How do I pay?
Tickets are sold through Eventbrite. The Eventbrite link is TBC. Until it is live, request your seat with the form on this page and you will be emailed the link.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancel at least 48 hours before the session for a full refund. Cancellations within 48 hours are not refunded. If we cancel or reschedule the Build Day, you can choose a full refund. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected.
How is this different from the free webinar?
The webinar shows you what is possible in ninety minutes. The Build Day is a full, hands-on day where you set things up in your own business, with help as you go, and leave with them working.
What if my business uses Microsoft 365 instead of Google?
That is fine. The connectors module covers both.
Is this tax, legal or financial advice?
No. The privacy and consumer law content is general information to help you use AI sensibly. For advice about your situation, talk to your accountant or lawyer.
